A test tube as the first nest
A queen and young colony do best in a test tube: water at the bottom held back by a firm cotton plug, living space in the middle and dry cotton at the opening. When the water runs out or the tube gets crowded, move the colony to a new tube or a formicarium.
How to use
- A pipette makes it easy to moisten the nest and fill feeders with syrup.
- Long forceps let you add food and remove leftovers without disturbing the ants, and keep you safe with stinging species.
