Description
ANTMART Labyrinth White B is a spacious 200×200 mm formicarium designed for colonies that require a broadly humidified gypsum nest. Its white PETG body, transparent components and sectional layout provide a clear view of colony development while allowing the keeper to expand the occupied area gradually.
Full gypsum chamber floor
In Variant B, every living chamber has a 6 mm floor layer of high-strength G23 gypsum. This hygroscopic foundation distributes moisture through the nesting area and helps prevent completely dry sections. The configuration is intended primarily for moisture-loving tropical ants. Four independent hydration zones can be serviced separately, allowing different parts of the nest to maintain different moisture levels.
Five-stage living space
The nest is divided into five independent sections. A small colony does not need access to the entire formicarium from the beginning: additional chambers can be opened as the family grows. This makes the available space easier to manage and allows the colony to occupy the system in stages.
The chambers provide 15 mm of height above the gypsum layer. This clearance accommodates large Camponotus queens and workers, giving them room to move and turn inside the nest. The source states a capacity of up to 3,500 medium-sized ants, although practical capacity will depend on the species, worker size and organization of the colony.
Moisture-resistant construction
The principal components are made from PETG and acrylic. Black nylon bolts are used in place of corrosion-prone metal fasteners, so the hardware will not rust when exposed to moisture. The structure contains neither plywood nor foam. Its white background improves the visibility of eggs, larvae and workers and provides a neutral setting for close-up photography.
Arena and access control
The 80 mm-high arena is covered by a double acrylic lid. The two-layer design increases rigidity and reduces the likelihood of moisture-related warping. Mechanical sliding locks secure the closing elements. The keeper should still inspect the lid and locks after every opening, since the design does not replace routine escape-prevention checks.
Suggested species
The fully gypsum-lined configuration is presented for moisture-loving ants, including:
- Camponotus nicobarensis;
- Camponotus pseudoirritans;
- Camponotus fedtschenkoi;
- species from the genera Pheidole, Pachycondyla, Odontoponera and Carebara.
The source also mentions Myrmicaria brunnea, Camponotus maculatus subnudus and Camponotus japonicus. Before introducing a colony, its size and species-specific humidity requirements should be compared with the formicarium’s layout.
Questions and answers
What is the purpose of the white body?
White PETG creates a bright background against which workers, eggs and larvae are easier to observe. It is also useful when photographing activity inside the nest.
Which gypsum is used?
The living chambers have a 6 mm foundation of high-strength G23 gypsum. To preserve its appearance and moisture-handling properties, the original product guidance recommends distilled water.
Can a small colony use this farm?
Yes. The five-section arrangement lets the keeper begin with a limited nesting area and open further chambers as the colony expands.
