Description
ANTMART Trigon Yellow Б is a 200×200 mm formicarium combining a bright yellow PETG base, transparent panels and a continuous white layer of G23 gypsum. The contrasting finish emphasizes the internal structure, while the characteristic triangular layout of the Trigon series makes brood placement and colony expansion clearly visible.
Triangular nesting architecture
The chambers and connecting passages are arranged as triangles rather than conventional rounded tunnels. This geometry produces numerous corners and recesses where ants can group cocoons and other brood. Each area remains visible through the clear panel, allowing the keeper to follow how the colony organizes and occupies the nest.
The residential module is divided into 5 sections. Partitions make it possible to release additional space gradually as the colony increases in size. A young family therefore does not have to manage the entire formicarium immediately, and fewer empty chambers are available for use as waste-storage sites.
Variant B and full-area hydration
A 6 mm layer of G23 gypsum covers the complete nesting area. Unlike Variant A, which has only partial gypsum coverage, Variant B is designed to provide elevated humidity throughout the residential block. Its internal structure contains 2 separate hydration zones divided by partitions.
An automatic hydration port accepts a 15 mm test tube. It allows water to be supplied without repeatedly opening the farm and helps establish a moisture gradient. The source does not specify an exact refill interval, since consumption will depend on operating conditions.
This configuration is intended for humidity-dependent colonies. The source lists Pheidole, Pachycondyla, Odontoponera and Carebara, and also names Camponotus nicobarensis, Camponotus pseudoirritans and Camponotus fedtschenkoi as suitable species.
PETG, acrylic and nylon
The base is manufactured from PETG and the clear panels use 3 mm acrylic. White nylon bolts replace metal hardware throughout the assembly. Nylon does not rust in a damp environment or leave metal-corrosion residue in the gypsum. The source specifically associates this material choice with Myrmicaria brunnea and Camponotus maculatus subnudus.
Usable chamber height above the gypsum surface is 15 mm. This clearance provides room for larger workers and queens; Camponotus japonicus is given as an example in the original material. The yellow body and white gypsum produce a light, vivid appearance in which chamber boundaries and colony activity remain easy to distinguish.
An arena for feeding and observation
The 80 mm-high arena separates above-ground activity from the residential module. It provides space for offering food, removing waste and observing workers outside the nest. A double acrylic lid covers this area. The paired sheets reduce the likelihood of acrylic bending after extended exposure to humid air.
Mechanical gates close the designated passages and control access to individual sections. Their position should be checked whenever the formicarium is opened or serviced.
Important compatibility limit
Trigon Yellow Б is not intended for species that do not tolerate excessive moisture across the whole nest. In particular, the source advises against using Variant B for Messor and Pogonomyrmex. Grain stored by Messor may germinate in damp chambers with continuous gypsum coverage. Variant A, with a less extensive gypsum layer, is the indicated alternative for harvester ants.

Questions and answers
What is the purpose of the triangular chambers?
The triangular network creates corners and recesses that ants can use when arranging brood. It also divides the nesting area into visually distinct spaces, making colony organization easier to observe.
Is Variant B suitable for harvester ants?
It is not recommended for them. The continuously damp gypsum can create conditions in which grain stored by Messor begins to germinate. Variant A is the more suitable configuration for harvesters.
How do the nylon bolts perform under humid conditions?
Nylon does not rust when exposed to moisture and cannot produce metal-corrosion residue. This makes the fasteners practical for a formicarium that is humidified regularly.
