Description
The ANTMART Trigon White А 200×200 mm ant farm combines a distinctive triangular chamber layout with a bright white finish. The light background creates clear contrast when observing ants, eggs, and larvae, while the chamber geometry uses the nesting area efficiently. Variant A combines dry compartments with a partial gypsum section, allowing the colony to choose between areas with different moisture conditions.
Inside the triangular nest
The nesting space is divided into 5 independent sections. Each chamber is triangular, giving the ants corners where cocoons can be positioned and brood can be grouped by development stage. The layout is intended to resemble separate cavities found in firm soil while keeping the colony visible through the transparent cover.
Chamber clearance is 15 mm above the gypsum layer and 21 mm in the dry areas. This additional vertical space is intended to accommodate larger ants, including Camponotus maculatus subnudus soldiers and queens, so they can move through the nest without pressing against the upper panel.
Partial G23 gypsum system
A 6 mm layer of high-strength G23 gypsum occupies only part of the living area. The remaining triangular compartments stay dry. This division is especially relevant to harvester ants: seeds can be kept away from the damp section, while larvae can be positioned closer to the humidified area.
The nest is divided between 2 independent humidification zones, enabling separate servicing of different sections. It also includes a port for an automatic humidification setup using a 15 mm tube. The appropriate watering pattern must be chosen according to the species, colony size, and ambient conditions; the presence of two zones does not remove the need for regular observation.
PETG, acrylic, and nylon fittings
The body is assembled from chemically resistant PETG plastic and acrylic. White nylon fittings are used instead of metal fasteners. Nylon bolts do not rust under continuous exposure to moisture and therefore do not introduce metal corrosion products into the gypsum area. The matte white background also makes it easier to monitor the colony, brood, and feeding activity.
Arena and closing system
An 80 mm-high arena sits above the nest and is secured with a double acrylic lid. The two layers help reduce the likelihood of heat-related lid deformation. Mechanical latches forming the “Anti-Escape” system keep the cover closed. They are a containment aid rather than a substitute for routine checks: after feeding or cleaning, the keeper should confirm that the lid is seated correctly and every latch is engaged.
Species mentioned for this model
The source recommends the farm for Camponotus nicobarensis, Camponotus pseudoirritans, and Camponotus fedtschenkoi. Its construction is also discussed in relation to Camponotus japonicus, Myrmicaria brunnea, and Camponotus maculatus subnudus. These references indicate intended compatibility, but the keeper should still confirm the humidity, temperature, diet, and space requirements of the particular colony before moving it into the farm.

Questions about the design
Why does the gypsum cover only part of the nest?
The partial layer creates both humidified and dry compartments within one farm. This gives the colony separate areas for brood and stored food, including the dry seed storage required by harvester ants.
What is the purpose of triangular chambers?
The corners provide additional positions for cocoons and compact brood groups. The sectional geometry also makes it easier to observe how the colony distributes itself throughout the nest.
Why are the bolts made from nylon?
Nylon does not corrode in a humid environment. It helps preserve the clean appearance of the white farm and prevents rust from metal fasteners from entering the gypsum.
Does the white background improve observation?
The matte white surface creates contrast for viewing ants, eggs, larvae, and feeding activity. Actual visibility will still depend on the coloration of the species and the available lighting.
